"Soil Moist" is a synthetic acrylic copolymer. When mixed in the soil, the crystals will soften as water is added and absorbed. As the soil dries, the polymer releases its water. So "Soil Moist" acts as a water reservouir for your Bonsai. Additionally, the expansion and retraction of the polymer during the watering cycle helps keep your Bonsai soil loose and aerated.
